Malaysia is ‘Best International Tourism Destination’

(May 2008) Malaysia was voted the Best International Tourism Destination by the Global Traveler Magazine for the second year in a row, beating four other strong contenders such as Italy, Spain, Thailand and United Kingdom amongst others.

Global Traveler Magazine conducted the fourth annual survey of its readers from 1 February to 31 August 2007, with open-ended questions for the best in 49 categories of business and luxury travel. A total of 15,828 completed questionnaires were received.

For those who have been to Malaysia, this result comes as no surprise as the country not only offers excellent nature, dream beaches and interesting sights, but at the same time an outstanding price-performance-ratio.

Overseas buyers are initially attracted by architectural style, tropical weather and scenery but the bottom line is that Malaysian property is well priced. Secondly, Capital Gains Tax in Malaysia was abolished in April 2007 from 30% - this has led to a boom in property investment in the local market. All this, combined with straightforward ownership regulations and access to funds puts Malaysia amongst the top property investment hotspots today.
